Embedded Systems, Microprocessors and Microcontrollers [ PPT ]

Recently I got an opportunity to assist in a workshop on Arduino and Robotics conducted by IEEE Students Branch in Canara Engineering College.

As a precursor to the workshop I gave a small seminar on Embedded Systems.

Here is the PPT I prepared for the workshop, Feel free to use it and share it. If you feel I have missed upon something please express it in the comments section.

6 Cool Open Source Hardware Projects

In current era Open Source movement can be termed as an old wave with a new flair. World has a huge population of people loving and using open source software products either knowingly or unknowingly. From last decade Open Source Hardware is vigorously penetrating into the community with the introduction of low cost open source development boards like Arduino and Raspberry Pi. Open Source Hardware products have created a new movement in the community.Technologies, accessories, tools and community built around the open source products enables literally anyone to build products and applications, even though he/she has zero knowledge of the subject. Rise of such technologies have eased the task of prototyping for makers, hackers and engineers. It's also driving designers, artists, musicians and creative professionals to use these technologies and products to make their piece of work interactive. Open Source  hardware products are also used in bringing children closer to learning science practically and interactively. Along with learning coding and physical computing, It's also encouraging non-engineers, hobbyists and amateurs to get into building things.

Open Source Hardware products like Arduino and Raspberry Pi are great! but there exist a wide diaspora of open source hardware which many are unaware of. These are not just prototyping boards or a technology to make learning easy but these are emerging technologies which are left open for the benefit of the people.

Here I have tried compiling 6 such Open Source Hardware  Technologies which I think are Cool and one must not miss exploring them.

What It Takes To Make !

Man has been a maker throughout evolution. The itch to explore and to make difficult tasks easy lead him to make, Build and create enormous things, which we are taking for granted today.

After getting into Engineering, Few dialogues am constantly been hearing are
"I want to build something"
"That fellow is building something, Even I want to build, but don't know where to start"
"Starting is ok, but don't know anything regarding it"
 "What if it doesn't work"
"I want to make a project but  first I will study about it, then will start building "
Among many I heard, few built things and rest are uttering the same dialogue till now after being in Engineering for four years.

How not to blow up your Raspberry Pi

Recently while experimenting with my Raspberry pi B+ I gave input to a pin more than voltage level of the pin and whatever left was noting but a bricked board. Here I have compiled few points which are too basic but one must keep them in mind while working on any development board.

1. Power:  Don't over power the board.Use the batteries or adapters which can supply required power to the board. Use voltage regulators if the battery has a higher voltage level.

Arduino : Introduction

Holidays are the perfect time to explore, learn and build things. It’s holiday time for me and I thought why not build something using Arduino. Arduino is a tiny microcontroller development board using which one can build cool projects. Actually am regretting now that why didn’t I took it early like in my first year of engineering I could have learnt lot many things, But it's never too late to learn something, So here I have compiled some points about Arduino

which might help a beginner.

 What is Arduino?

Before beginning to use it lets know a little bit about Arduino.
Arduino is an open source microcontroller development board. Designed and manufactured in Italy. This project was started with a purpose of providing students

Switching On Wi-Fi Hotspot in a Windows PC Using Command Prompt

Command Prompt is a useful tool for developers. There are so many commands through which we can make computers do lots of things which are unknown to people .There are options in smart phones to switch on Wi-Fi hot spot  through which the data connectivity of cell phones can be shared with other devices.Laptop too comes with a transmitter for transmitting wifi signals. There are few software available through which Wi-Fi hotspot can be switched on.In this post I will be speaking about configuring the Wi-Fi hotspot using Command Prompt.

Step1:
Run command prompt with administrator permissions.

Mathemagica : Easiest Way To Find Square Of A Number

Hey guys its been a long time since I posted something last time.I believe Mathematics is one amazing subject without which whole lot of things weren't possible.I actually used to hate maths,Because in school we are taught to do things in a prescribed way and manner. Works and ethics of mathematician like Manjul Bharghava has always fascinated  me.He once had quoted in an interview that

"Mathematics is an art of arriving at an answer through our own different ways."
